Bubble-Up Slim Jim Aquarium Filter
Classic from the '70s - New in Box

Talk about your blast from the past. Long before the now-common power filters, these hang-on AIR OPERATED filters were the ticket to success. Made by the long gone Metaframe / Living World , these small (approximately 7"x6" x2") filters hooked up to your air pump (not included), were filled with bulk filter media like carbon and glass wool / fiber (not included), and serviced a 5 to 10 gallon aquarium (not included) quite nicely.

This is model 120R, boasting the "new" Turbo-Flo design that filters up to 30 gallons per hour. From the side of the box:

"THE TURBO-FLO BUBBLE-UP SLIM JIM AQUARIUM FILTER IS AN EXTREMELY EFFICIENT FILTER! ...IT INTENSIFIES THE PUMPING ACTION OF AN AIRLIFT TUBE BY PRESSURIZING AIR BUBBLES IN A UNIQUELY DESIGNED BUBBLE CHAMBER... WATER IS PUMPED AT UP TO 10 TIMES THE POWER OF OTHER FILTERS... THE RESULT: A SPARKLING CLEAR AQUARIUM!"

I think this would primarily be a collectible item., but could be put to use if the buyer desired. Please keep in mind that this is almost 40 year old plastic, likely to be brittle and easily cracked or broken. And of course official replacement parts like the styrofoam airstones are not likely to have been on anybody's stock list for a few decades, so the aquarist may need to do a little juryrigging at some point. In addition, starting the siphon canes in such a small filter box is a pretty good trick in itself. A special note for tor this model: since the airline attaches to the bottom of the filter box, be sure to use a check valve or water will certainly drain backwards through the pump during a power outage.

Vintage HUBBLA BUBBLA Aquarium Filter
Classic from 1969 and early '70s - New in Box

Made by the long gone Miracle Pet Products, these small (approximately 7"x7" x3") filters hooked up to your air pump (not included), were filled with bulk filter media like carbon and glass wool / fiber (not included), and serviced a 5 to 10 gallon aquarium (not included) quite nicely.

This is a 4 way unit, and could be used with one or two outlet pipes, with or without a partition to alter media and flow rate options. The manufacturer rated the options from 15 to even 125 gallon tanks, but by today's standards, that would really be wishful thinking. Included in the box are the filter box, two siphon canes, one filter tray, two output stems, two output elbows, two long stem airstones, one partition, and even the instruction sheets. (Some of the duplicate items are not shown in picture.)

Priority mail is not available for some items, notably the gallon sizes of liquid products. Shipping/handling fees are not refundable.
