🐢Turtle Talk

We do our best here at Aquatics Unlimited to re-home and house our turtles. Most of the turtles we have adopted are from homes where they could not properly be housed for their entire life. It is responsible to come to that realization, but we would like to strive for one step better. These guys (specifically we will speak for red eared sliders) are commonly bought as tiny babies (not always legally) they are cute and green, but a few years later they have become too large and are living longer than most people tend to realize. We have opened our arms to as many as we can comfortably hold, but unfortunately do not have any more space to take on these guys. We want to use our voice to try to educate people on this topic. Here are the big hitters: Red Eared Sliders typically live 20-30 years and grow 14” in total. Please, if you or someone you know is considering a turtle be sure you are ready for this long-term responsibility. Please like and share this post, so we can find these guys and gals a new forever home.

I have had this conversation with one of the awesome staff members there because of my teens interest in "exotic pets"! Best advice I have heard was get the book about " ", read the book, eat the book and don't get the pet!

I love turtles. I have a 20 year old Ornate Box Turtle, a 13 year old Red Eared Slider, a 13 year old Black Knobbed Sawback Mississippi Map Turtle, and a 10 year old Louisiana Mud Turtle. I raised them all from hatchlings. I’ll definitely share this post.

Right got handed down 2 super small red ear slider turtles now they're about palm size or so a little bigger but what do you feed then bcuz mine won't take turtle pellets no more.

Are they free

Nathan Wetzel

Or is 1 or 2 free

How much

How many do you guys have on ha d rn?

How much are these little guys?

Thank you for sharing this information. That's why I love your shop you educate people before you sell.

Serving the Greater Milwaukee Area since 1969!

It was in August of 1969 that Aquatics Unlimited first opened its doors on the corner of 95th Street and Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. Most of our dry goods fit on a single 8-foot shelf, our "cash register" was a cigar box, and all-glass aquariums were but a glimmer in somebody's eye. On busy weekends, we doubled our staff to two. The past few decades have seen four different locations, a lot of water changes, and plenty of new faces, but our aim is still the same - to provide "The Best in Tropical Fish" and aquarium equipment. We'd like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to so many faithful customers who have helped us towards that goal.

Aquatics Unlimited IS "bestfish.com."

In the 1990's scramble for .com identities, Aquatics Unlimited was looking for a name that was (1) still available, (2) easy to remember and (3) easy for customers to type and spell correctly. Since our logo and advertising had contained "The Best in Tropical Fish" since 1969, www.bestfish.com was a natural choice. We are not affiliated with any other pet or aquarium business of that name, in either the real or virtual world.

Located in a western suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Aquatics Unlimited has an outstanding selection of tropical and pond fish, marine fish and invertebrates, aquarium and pond plants, and all the supplies needed to enjoy our hobby.
