Description
General: This South American Tetra naturally thrives in the acidic, stained waters of the Paraguay River. Standing out well against an aquarium with a darkened background, the Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) can make a positive addition to any community setting. The Black Neon Tetra will produce optimal color in schools (7, or more), and will thrive in a planted aquarium over 10 gallons.
Fecundity: The Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) may produce up to 200 eggs per clutch. Be sure to include floating, live plants within the aquarium to promote reproductive behavior of the Black Neon Tetra.

Aquarium Diet: Brine shrimp, blackworms, general flake, omnivore pellet, Spirulina
Dimorphism: It is difficult to determine the gender of the Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi). Once mature, the female will take on a more gravid appearance.
