Hengel’s Rasbora "Trigonostigma hengeli"
Less than 2"
Acidic (5-7 pH), soft water (3 to 6 dGH), 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit
General: The Hengel's Rasbora (Trigonostigma hengeli) naturally thrive in the "blackwater" wetlands of Southeast Asia. They primarily feed on microinvertebrates in areas of densely concentrated organic, vegetative materials. This small community fish will typically make a great addition to any aquarium nearing the chemical characteristics of the "blackwater" environment.
Fecundity: Acidic, soft water conditions are critical when attempting to breed Hengel's Rasbora. Floating plants, as well as optimal diet, will promote reproductive behaviors.
Preferred Water Chemistry: Acidic (5-7 pH), soft water (3 to 6 dGH)
Aquarium Diet: Brine Shrimp, Baby Brine Shrimp, Blackworms, general flake, omnivore pellet, Spirulina
Dimorphism: The Hengel's Rasbora (Trigonostigma hengeli) female will take on a more gravid appearance, once mature.
Compatibility:The Hengel's Rasbora (Trigonostigma hengeli) are typically compatible with other Rasboras, Danio, Tetra, Pencilfish, Hatchetfish, and Corydoras.
