General: The Nassarius Snail (Nassarius sp.) are a snail species from the coastal shallows surrounding California, as well as the Carribean Sea. Behaviorally, the Nassarius Snail often burrows with only the siphon protruding from the substrate. Acting as a benthal (bottom-dwelling) invertebrate, the Nassarius Snail will actually help stir the substrate. In turn, this will provide beneficial bacteria with oxygen. There are numerous benefits to adding the Nassarius Snail to the typical reef aquarium.
