Description
General: The Pin Cushion Urchin (Lytichenus variegates) of the Indo-Pacific Ocean are armored with spines to help defend against predators such as Pufferfish, Parrotfish, and Triggers. Within saltwater aquariums, this scavenger is typically considered to be part of the "clean up crew". The Pin Cushion Urchin should only be introduced to a cycled aquarium, and are not considered to be reef safe.
