General: The Red Montipora (Montipora capricornis) are an SPS coral that naturally occupy the shallow lagoons of the Red Sea, and western Australia. Being in open space allows the Montipora to easily gather light, while maintaining a large amount of feeding territory. Montipora prefer a relatively low amounts of current, while they also prefer strong lighting. They should be kept away from aggressive coral. Although this coral utilizes photosynthetic zooxanthellae, the Montipora will also benefit from weekly target feeding.
Temperament: The Red Montipora are typically a peaceful coral, and mix well with invertebrates. It is often best to maintain a six to twelve inch space between them, any potentially aggressive coral.
Aquarium Diet: Filter feeding corals with the addition of various species of plankton, as well as other microscopic food particles naturally present within cycled aquaria, will promote accelerated growth rates.
