General: The rili shrimp are an invertebrate species from the wetlands of Taiwan. Neocaridina shrimp are peaceful, colorful, and will frequently reproduce assuming optimal water chemistry. They can reach a length of two inches, and live up to two years in captivity.
Dimorphism: The rili shrimp female will reach a relatively large size, in comparison to the male. Also, the female will develop a brighter coloration when ready to reproduce.
Fecundity: The rili shrimp may produce up to 50 eggs per clutch.
Preferred Water Chemistry: 60-80° F, KH 3-10, pH 6.6-7.0
Shrimp-Safe Water Chemistry: nitrate (NO3) less than 20 parts per million, nitrite (NO2) absent, ammonia (NH3) absent
Aquarium Diet: Red rili shrimp are omnivores and will accept herbivore pellet, algae wafer, boiled vegetable, and algae growing in the aquarium.
Compatibility: The rili shrimp are typically compatible with other peaceful shrimp species, corydoras species, otocinclus species, danios such as the zebra danio (Danio rerio), rasbora species such as the axelrod rasbora (Rasbora axelrodi), pencilfish species (Nannostomus sp.), guppies (Poecilia reticulata), and smaller tetras such as neon tetras (Paracheirodon innesi) and ember tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae).
