General: The hillstream loach naturally occupy fast-flowing streams of Southeast Asia. These streams hold sand, well-rounded rocks, and are often times very well-oxygenated. This species will typically live longest if aquarists attempt to meet these environmental conditions. The hillstream loach will actively assist with the consumption of algae within an aquarium, so they are also a relatively useful part of the cleanup crew. This species will typically reach a length of up to three inches, and is very unlikely to show any signs of aggression to any of the aquariums inhabitants.
