General: TheScopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas) naturally occupies reefs within the Pacific Ocean surrounding the islands of Hawaii, and Japan. The Scopas Tang will reach a length of eight inches, is considered to be "reef safe", and should be kept in an aquarium larger than 100 gallons. This Tang is typically a peaceful marine fish species that may be utilized to "cycle" a new aquarium. The Scopas Tang may also be kept with another, as long as it is of a relatively similar size. Each living organism is unique in its own way, and all marine fish, even of the same species, may not behave the same. It is important to understand that every individual is unique, and that adjustments may have to be made when introducing fish of the same species. One Scopas Tang will typically accept another Scopas Tang. If aggression is observed it is best to rearrange habitat, and continue to observe behavior.
Aquarium Diet (Herbivorous): The Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas) is naturally an herbivore, primarily consuming algae. However, optimal health will only be achieved with a balanced diet including microinvertebrates such as copepods, or baby Brine Shrimp.
