General: The Snowflake Eel (Echidna nebulosa) naturally occupies reefs surrounding the islands of Indonesia. This Eel will reach a length of over two feet, is not considered to be "reef safe", and should be kept in an aquarium larger than 180 gallons. The Snowflake Eel is typically an opportunistic marine fish that is likely to ambush anything slow, and small enough to consume. Any aggressive fish should be added after having "cycled" a new aquarium, as the final addition to the aquarium.
Aquarium Diet (Carnivorous): The Snowflake Eel (Echidna nebulosa) is naturally carnivorous, primarily preying upon benthal (bottom dwelling) invertebrates mussels, and crustaceans. The Snowflake Eel will also consume any fish that swim within its grasp. It is often ideal to provide Eel with a frozen marine carnivore diet containing shrimp, krill, mussels, and silversides.
