General: The Sparkling Gourami (Trichopsis pumilus) is unique species of Gourami from the wetlands of Southeast Asia. The Sparkling Gourami will reach a length of one inch, and can live over five years in captivity. Despite being a smaller species of "labyrinth fish", the Sparkling Gourami has a relatively passive temperament.
Aquarium Diet (Omnivore): Brine Shrimp, Baby Brine Shrimp, Blackworms, Omnivore Pellet, General Flake
Preferred Water Chemistry: Slightly acidic (6.0-7.2 pH), intermediate water hardness (3-12 dGH)
Dimorphism: The Sparkling Gourami (Trichopsis pumilus) female will take on a more gravid appearance when ready to reproduce. The Ovaries may become more apparent, once mature. Behaviorally, the male will attempt to create a bubble-nest, and attract the female.
Compatibility: The Sparkling Gourami (Trichopsis pumilus) are typically compatible with Rasbora, Danio, Badis, Clown Killi, and smaller Tetra.
