Description
General: The Tiger Shovelnose Catfish is an Amazonian catfish, highly desirable for the dedicated aquarist. This species reaches a length of 4 feet and a weight of well over 60 pounds. They can be social, as keeping a pair helps to keep them active. Although they will investigate activity outside their tank, this catfish is known to be rather skiddish.
Preferred Water Chemistry: Soft (3 to 12 dGH), and slightly acidic (6.5 to 7.2 pH)
Aquarium Diet: Feeder goldfish, earthworms, krill, beef heart, spirulina / brine shrimp (while at juvenile size)
