General: The Vampire Shrimp (Atya gabonensi) is a large, yet peaceful shrimp from West Africa. The Vampire Shrimp may reach a length of six inches, and live for up to six years in captivity. They can be mixed with the smaller scientific genus neocaridina. The Vampire Shrimp does require ample amounts of dissolved oxygen. Be sure to include an airstone, or have a filter that will produce a significant amount of flow within the aquarium.

Aquarium Diet (Omnivore): Algae Wafer, Spirulina, Baby Brine Shrimp, Omnivore Pellet
Dimorphism: The Vampire Shrimp (Atya gabonensi) male will have an enlarged first set of pereiopods (front feeding appendage) in comparison to the female.
Compatibility: The Vampire Shrimp (Atya gabonensi) are typically compatible with Danio, Tetra, Rasbora, Corydoras, Pencilfish, South American Dwarf Cichlids, and Neocaridina Shrimp.
